The Second Thing On My Countdown to Christmas

It's day two of the countdown and my favorite thing today is Christmas Break.  All breaks are magical, but I think Christmas break is the least flawed.  Most breaks are too short to really unwind, either because they are only a few days, or because things are planned for those days, like fixing cars, or cleaning houses.  Christmas break may consist of a few household chores, but unless you are a slob, you can't spend the whole time cleaning.

Summer break, though awesome, is a little too long.  It's long enough to do something with it, like get a job, which makes it no longer a break.  Winter break is short enough, that there really isn't much a person can do with it, but relax.

These two things make Christmas break the best break of all.  We can visit family, sit back, relax, laugh, sing, smile, and take a nap, with no worry of deadlines.  I do understand that some people have to work, and that sucks.  And I'm sorry.  But as far as college breaks go, Christmas break is the best one.

  2. We are on summer break here in Australia. It began two weeks ago and ends at the end of January. My son is home schooled so we can take a holiday whenever we want really. I used to have to work boxing day, and this is the first year that I'm not. YAY!

  3. Well that's nice. What is boxing day exactly? I've heard of it, but why is it a holiday?

  4. It's the day after Christmas Day. Supposedly it was the day you re-boxed the gifts you didn't want and gave them back! Which I think is a bit rude..lol. Anyway I'm not sure why it is a holiday here, (we also have a holiday on the Monday if Christmas Day falls on a weekend)but the big department stores over here have a Boxing Day sale. Which are usually quite good, but I used to have to work them and it was a nightmare!

  5. That's right. I have heard of it. It is kind of a funny idea. I can just imagine someone showing up on my doorstep with a box, "Paul... is this really what you thought I wanted? It's not even worth its shelf space!" It is funny that it's turned into a time to go the store and get more crap for cheaper though. Good times.
